June 1, 2019: Search Committee Update to the Parish
Two weeks ago Jeffrey provided a brief update at the 10:00 a.m. Service on the Rector search. We thought we would share that message in written form so that everyone has a sense of how the search is progressing. We are making good progress.
As most of you know, after some unavoidable delays we finally opened the position to receive applications a few weeks before Easter. We received a satisfactory number of applications by the closing date of May 11, most of them coming in the last few days.
During the last three weeks the Search Committee has been working hard. We have reviewed and discussed all the application materials and met to select a list of candidates with whom to conduct preliminary interviews. We are currently in the midst of conducting these interviews via Skype. We expect to complete them prior to the Church Picnic on Pentecost.
We are encouraged by both the diversity and quality of the candidate pool. The many strengths that St. Mary’s has to offer has attracted some talented clergy leaders to consider our parish as they discern their next steps in God’s service. From the interviews we’ve already conducted it’s clear that St. Mary’s warm and welcoming community, our vibrancy and positive attitude, our rich music program, our lovely and well maintained historical church building and grounds, and our healthy financial condition are all aspects that make St. Mary’s an appealing parish in which to serve. As members of the Search Committee, we are grateful for the stewardship of our fellow parishioners, who, through their generous gifts of talent, time, and treasure now and in the past, have made St. Mary’s what it is today.
We are also deeply grateful for the hard work and commitment of the members of the Search Committee. We know you all join us in deep appreciation for their contributions and dedication to St. Mary’s.
We will be continuing our work over the coming months and, as you know, this part of the process needs to remain confidential. Please do contact any of us, however, if you have concerns, questions, or suggestions. We value the
confidence you have placed in us, welcome your prayers in our support, and look forward to keeping you posted on our progress over the coming months.

January 27, 2019: Visit from the Diocese About the Rector Search
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Carol Gallagher, the new regional canon for the central region of the Diocese, will be visiting us Sunday morning on January 27. Carol oversees leadership transitions for 56 congregations, including St. Mary’s. This will be her first visit to St. Mary’s and she would like to meet as many people as possible. She will preach, visit during coffee hour briefly, and then meet with the clergy, search committee, wardens, and vestry. Come and meet Carol!
September 28, 2018: Survey of Parish Members
In order to obtain the broadest input into the search for our new rector we are asking these questions of all parish members. These questions will also be discussed after church on October 14 and 28. Please provide your input to the rector search by taking this survey. Your answers will help the search committee write a parish profile that accurately describes who we are and what we seek in a new rector. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. Your responses can be as long as you like or as short as a single word. The final demographic questions are optional but are to help us understand how priorities vary among different segments of the parish.

August 15, 2018: Rector Search
Our former rector George Stevens has accepted the bishop’s appointment to become the Vicar of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts. His last Sunday with us was May 18, 2018. The Rev. Dr. Paul Kolbet has accepted our call to be Interim Priest beginning in September, 2018.
A search committee has been formed to begin the process of identifying the next Rector to lead St. Mary’s. More information for candidates will be made available here as it becomes available.
