November 27 – First Sunday of Advent We welcome the SWEA Choir and their director, Eva DiLascio, who will lead us in the traditional “Hosianna” and sing Swedish carols for the start of the Advent season.
December 4- Second Sunday of Advent As we hear the voice of John the Baptist, soloist Lynn Edwards will sing Prepare Thyself, Zion from The Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach. The call to “prepare the way” will be echoed by the Adult Choir in Martin How’s Advent Message.
December 11 – Third Sunday of Advent The Adult Choir will lead the annual Service of Advent Lessons and Carols at 10 am. A series of prophetic Scripture readings will be interspersed with Advent hymns. Carols sung by the Adult Choir will include Adam lay ybounden by Philip Ledger, Hugo Distler’s setting of the beloved carol Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming and an arrangement of Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence by Stephen Cleobury.
December 18 – Fourth Sunday of Advent The young people of St. Mary’s will present the Christmas Pageant during the 10:00 a.m. service with a joint anthem by the Junior and Adult Choirs, a solo by Anayis Wright, and Christmas carols sung by the congregation.
