Rector and Staff

george-profile-pictThe Rev. George Stevens, Rector

The Rev. George R. Stevens arrived at St. Mary’s in the summer of 2010.  He grew up in North Carolina and received his undergraduate degree in religion from the University of Richmond in 1999.  Following a year of snowboarding, George joined the staff of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, NC working as a youth minister.  In 2002 George moved to New York City to attend the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church.  Following graduation, he moved to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms to work as the Associate Rector.

George serves on the Financial Advisory Committee and the Diocesan Council for the diocese of Massachusetts.  He enjoys drinking coffee, the great outdoors, and the Boston Red Sox.  George and his wife Margaret have two children, Henry and Anne and a dog, Angus.

Kirsten Johnson, Director of Music

Kirsten Johnson has been the director of music at St. Mary’s since 1992.  She completed her undergraduate degree at St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota and her graduate degree from the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale.  At St. Mary’s, Kirsten is both organist and choir director coordinating both adult and youth choirs.  Away from St. Mary’s, Kirsten teaches young people through the Music Together program.

Denise Flanagan, Parish Administrator

Denise has worked at St. Mary’s since 1992.  As the parish administrator, Denise coordinates publications, calendars and record keeping.  As the primary office support for the church for nearly 20 years, Denise can answer almost any question.
