It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High. – Psalm 92

At St. Mary’s we understand music to be instrumental in worship.  Through hymns, psalms and anthems, we praise God.

For more than 20 years, our Music Director Kirsten Johnson has lead this important ministry at St. Mary’s.  Kirsten has guided us by leading choirs, playing the organ and developing special music programs.  Past programs have included English country village music from the 18th century and Swedish Advent carols, as well as special works from classical composers including Bach and Brahams.

Our Adult choir leads worship at our 10:00 a.m. service September through June.  The Adult Choir also sings at Special Music Sundays throughout the year, as well as at special evening worship services, concerts and much more.

The Junior Choir sings about once a month and includes singers from grade 2 through middle school.   Through singing hymns and anthems, both on their own and with the adult choir, the members of the Junior Choir learn about our music traditions, and also have lots of fun.

Both choirs practice weekly on Thursday evenings and always welcome new members.

St. Mary’s 20-rank pipe organ was built by Fritz Noack and is celebrating its 50th anniversary at St. Mary’s in 2015.  The Church’s wooden interior, with high ceilings and box pews is acoustically ideal for music and speech.
